A Hero’s Fate (Spring Raid Refresh Survey Results)

Greetings Commanders!

With the Spring Raid Refresh in the rearview mirror, which brought a host of changes to Heroes and their families, it is time to share some insights. If you need a reminder or more information about those changes, check here.

Shortly after the refresh, having gone live, we asked for your feedback as your thoughts are important in assisting us in how we shape the destiny of the many amazing Heroes in Empires & Puzzles. With over 15,000 responses, we are excited to share a summary of what you all said!

Let’s kick things off by taking a look at how the community felt about the balance changes made to Ustad Anand, Haradea and Salome. Overall, the majority polled neutral with a heavy lean towards positive for those who provided additional clarity in their responses. We feel this is a fair indicator that these Hero refinements were not completely unwelcomed, more on that later with regard to Salome. However, that is not to say that everyone was appreciative of these changes so we are looking into that further.

If we dive deeper, 69% of players said that they frequently reroll raid opponents when they had to face off against a team featuring any of the aforementioned Heroes. This is certainly not the experience we wanted and is one of the reasons changes had to be made. To put this into better focus, almost 50% of players said that they regularly use these Heroes on their teams. So there you have it. Even those who used these Heroes didn’t necessarily want to battle against them.

For those who might not have noticed, our winged friends over in Dragonspire also had a mini makeover with a sharpening of the claws and polishing of some scales. When asked how everyone felt about this and nearly 50% responded ‘Positive’. Fun fact, one of our designers almost lost an arm to a fiery dragon when they referred to it as a lizard. Don’t say you were not warned!

Last but not least, let’s talk about how the community felt about some of the buffs made to costumes, Families and individual Heroes in the Spring Raid Refresh. For those who might be unfamiliar with costumes, these are new takes on existing Heroes that transforms them into living legends. They also provide tactical changes that can alter a team’s usefulness in battles. Beauty & Beast and Magic Carpet families were in the top mentioned and shows that there is a lot of appeal to them! Magic Beast Mimics anyone?
